A bit about us

How we met

This one’s an easy one; we met at university! It was around Christmas when most students went home to celebrate, Gloria was too stressed to celebrate Christmas as a final year design student, and Andy just enjoyed his own space in his uni flat.

When we eventually went home for Christmas, Andy ventured down south for a romantic day out in London. The wet weather was terrible, and Andy tried to impress with new trainers, which ended up giving him the worst blisters. Whilst tucking into some street food in the busy Camden market, a stranger tapped on Gloria’s shoulder to inform her of fresh bird poo on her new coat. Despite everything trying to bring us down, we had a great day, and we haven’t looked back since!

How he asked

Gloria knew he was going to propose and thought he would use an easy date like their anniversary later in the year.

Andy knows he’s a terrible planner but still wanted it to be a surprise, so he chose an ordinary Thursday before a long weekend. Andy initially wanted to go to Bath for a ‘spontaneous’ weekend trip but forgot it was Gloria’s dad’s birthday on Sunday (lousy planner, right?). Instead, he booked Alchemilla, a fine dining experience in Nottingham, without telling Gloria, only letting it slip that they would be eating out - Gloria didn’t question it given how often they eat out often (bad, they know), but she thought they were going to Nando’s or something. Gloria was furious when Andy parked up (it’s not exactly cheap), but Andy reassured her it was payday, so it was fine, and they couldn’t not go given he had already booked.

After the incredible ten course meal, Andy took Gloria to the rooftop terrace. Gloria thought it was to have an after dinner drink and to discuss how they both rate the courses, but he went down on one knee!
